Some 2021-2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles built on Aug. 1, 2021, through Jan. 18, 2022, may exhibit a shift knob that can be rotated without stepping on the brake pedal, although the transmission remains in Park. This condition may be intermittent and may be more noticeable in warmer temperatures. DTC P0929 may be set in the gear shift module (GSM). This may be due to a GSM concern.

1. Remove the center console trim.

2. Inspect the GSM at the location shown in the following photo.

3. If the GSM is marked with numbers 1, 2 or 3, replace the GSM.

4. If the GSM is marked with a number 4 or is blank, reinstall and reprogram the GSM using the latest available software.
