Aug. 5, 2025

Some 2021-2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles built on Aug. 1, 2021 through Jan. 18, 2022, 2022 Maverick vehicles built Sept. 13, 2021 through Jan. 18, 2022, 2022 Escape vehicles built Sept. 24, 2021 through Jan. 18, 2022 and Bronco Sport vehicles built Nov. 8, 2021 through Jan. 18, 2022, may exhibit a shift knob that can be rotated without stepping on the brake pedal, although the transmission remains in park.

This condition may be intermittent, but more noticeable in warmer temperatures. DTC P0929 may also be set in the gear shift module (GSM). This may be due to a GSM concern.

Remove the center console trim and inspect the GSM at the location shown in the accompanying illustration. If the GSM is marked with numbers one, two or three, replace the GSM. If the GSM is marked with number four or is blank, reinstall and reprogram the GSM to the latest software level.
