Greasing Lincoln Corsair steering columns

Some 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with a power adjustable steering column may exhibit a creaking/squeaking/grinding and/or rubbing noise while the steering column is adjusted into the tilt up or down position. This may be due to a lack of lubrication in the steering column.

To correct this, remove the steering column shrouds. Adjust the steering column with the steering column control switch into the full tilt down position to maximize access. Apply Motorcraft Premium Long-Life Grease at the right and left locations (example of left in photo). Adjust the steering column into the full tilt up and down positions about five to 10 times to evenly distribute the grease. Avoid applying excessive grease that could drip down. Using too much grease could cause a squishy noise during operation.

If the noise persists, repeat the greasing. If the noise is still present, replace the steering column with P/N LX6Z-3C529-AB. You’ll also need a new steering shaft coupler retainer P/N W718843-S439.
