Adding lube to Mercedes steering column

This bulletin applies to 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz models with electrical steering. A squeaking noise may be heard from the input shaft area. The cause is inadequate lubrication.

This bulletin applies to 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz models with electrical steering. A squeaking noise may be heard from the input shaft area. The cause is inadequate lubrication.

Detach the lower cover of the steering column. Fill 2 mL of grease/oil into a syringe. Move downward along the input shaft with the syringe needle until resistance can be felt. Push the needle about another 4mm further so that the needle is located on the inside of the seal. Press the contents of the syringe into the inside of the seal. Remove the syringe and fully rotate left and right several times to ensure that the lube is distributed. If the noise remains, perform the lube process again.
