Some 2020-2024 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with the 8F35 or HF45 transmission may exhibit a click or ting noise during acceleration from a stop, or in some cases during the end of a stop.

Some 2020-2024 Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with the 8F35 or HF45 transmission may exhibit a click or ting noise during acceleration from a stop, or in some cases during the end of a stop.

This may be due to the front halfshaft sticking to the wheel bearing surface.

1. Remove the wheel from the affected side.

2. Remove and discard the wheel hub nut.

3. Using the special tool 205-D070, press the halfshaft from the wheel bearing and hub assembly, leaving the tool installed to gain access to the halfshaft mating surface to apply chassis grease.

4. Coat the surface with chassis lubricant grease.

5. Remove the service tool.

6. Pull the halfshaft into the front wheel bearing and hub. Use special tool 204-161 halfshaft fastener installer.

7. While an assistant applies the brakes, install the new wheel hub nut and tighten to 74 ft-lb, followed by an additional rotation of 60 degrees.

8. Reinstall the wheel.
