TSB: Jaguar Loss of Power Steering

The bulletin provides a detailed procedure for diagnosing and repairing a software fault affecting power steering in certain Jaguar models. It emphasizes the importance of running network tests, collecting module data, resetting the battery, and installing a software update to ensure proper vehicle operation.

This bulletin applies to2021-2023 Jaguar XF, I-PACE and XE vehicles. JLR Engineering investigations have had reports of no power steering assist at the start of a drive cycle. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) warning message on the instrument panel and DTC U0400-81 may be set on the Driver Assistance Domain Controller (DADC). The cause is a software error. Do not replace any parts before completing the following steps:

  1. Run the network integrity test (NIT) vehicle application.

  2. Run the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) data collection module application.

  3. Complete the 12V battery reset procedure.

  4. Confirm that the reported fault in now resolved.

According to JLR, a software update is now available as a permanent repair.
