Corrections Available for BMW Intermittent Power Loss

This bulletin applies to all BMW models with the N20, N26 and N55 engines, produced before Nov. 20, 2015. Intermittently, the engine may experience a loss of power along with a Drivetrain Malfunction message stored in the digital motor electronics memory:

E-Series:

2775 (air mass plausibility, air mass too low)

2C57 (charging pressure control plausibility, pressure too low)

2DCE (Valvetronic system: no adjustment possible)

3164 (fuel tank ventilation system, 2nd inlet point malfunction)

F-Series:

102002 (air mass plausibility, air mass too low)

120308 (charging pressure control plausibility, pressure too low)

133B04 (Valvetronic system: no adjustment possible)

191C02 (fuel tank ventilation system, 2nd inlet point malfunction)

Using the latest version of ISTA, perform all recommended test plans. Visually check that there are no leaks in the lines or connections of the charge air system. If a fault is detected during testing, complete all steps as specified to identify the cause. If faults were detected, make the necessary mechanical repairs and program the vehicle to the specified integration level using ISTA/P 3.57.0 or higher. If no faults were detected, program the vehicle to update the DME software.
