Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 239,131 vehicles: certain model year 2025-2026 Ram 1500 pickups. A radio software error may cause the rearview camera image not to display, a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, "Rear Visibility."

A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Because the fault is in the radio software rather than the camera or its wiring, a technician chasing a no-image complaint on one of these trucks should confirm the campaign status before condemning hardware.

The radio software will be updated over-the-air or by a dealer, free of charge.

Ford Motor Company is recalling 148,663 vehicles: certain model year 2024-2026 Mustangs. The engine compartment wiring harness ground connections may fracture and result in a loss of drive power, or a loss of function in the windshield washing system, headlights, air conditioning, or engine cooling fan. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment," and FMVSS No. 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems."

A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. A loss of headlight function or windshield washing system function can reduce visibility, also increasing crash risk. The spread of affected circuits - lighting, washers, HVAC, cooling fan and propulsion - makes this a likely source of scattered, seemingly unrelated electrical complaints on the same car.

Dealers will replace the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals, free of charge.

Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were expected to be mailed August 31, 2026, with additional letters once the remedy is available, anticipated in March 2027. Due to improper software programming, the Alliance In-Vehicle Infotainment (A-IVI) system may fail to display the rearview camera image when the vehicle is placed in reverse, a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 111, "Rear Visibility."

A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the A-IVI software, free of charge. The remedy is a dealer-performed reflash, not an over-the-air update.

An unexpected loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. This is one of the few campaigns this week that ends in hard parts rather than software, and the affected population spans five nameplates built on different platforms - the common thread is the engine, not the vehicle.

Dealers will inspect the engine pistons and replace the engine long block, if necessary, free of charge.

The brake pedal position sensor capacitor may be cracked, which can cause a loss of electronic stability control, a noncompliance with FMVSS No. 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

A loss of electronic stability control increases the risk of a crash. Because the failure originates at the brake pedal position sensor, the fault may present as a stability-control or brake-switch complaint rather than anything obviously wrong at the wheel ends.

Dealers will inspect and replace the brake pedal position sensor as necessary, free of charge.
