TSB: Honda Rapid Decel DTC

This bulletin details procedures for addressing the MIL illumination in 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrids caused by fluid aeration in the e-CVT during rapid deceleration, including diagnostics, fluid checks, and software updates.

Honda Rapid Decel DTC

This bulletin applies to 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles. The MIL may illuminate when rapidly decelerating from a high vehicle speed. The cause: fluid aeration can occur in the e-CVT under high-g rapid deceleration.

Connect the i-HDS to the DLC and verify if DTC P0868 is stored. If so, verify data that the DTC is generated under rapid deceleration (defined as a reduction of 13 MPH or more in 1 second). Do an e-CVT fluid level check. If low, check for leaks and repair as needed. If no leaks are found and fluid level is OK, using i-HDS, do the Shift Solenoid Valve Cover Assembly inspection. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode. Perform the shift solenoid valve test for shift solenoid A, the solenoid B then solenoid valve C. If the tests showed no problem, update the ICM software.
