TSB: Updated Subaru O2 Sensors

This bulletin details the introduction of new oxygen sensors for Subaru models from 2017 to 2024, designed to resolve specific DTCs related to sensor circuit issues, with improved internal coatings to prevent cracking and circuit failures.

Updated Subaru O2 Sensors

This bulletin applies to 2020-2024 Subaru Legacy and Outback 2.5L, 2017-2024 Impreza and Crosstrek, 2019-2023 Forester and 2022-2023 BRZ vehicles. New oxygen sensors have been developed to address the following DTCs:

  • P0137 (O2 sensor circuit low voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2)
  • P0138 (O2 sensor circuit high voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2)
  • P0140 (O2 sensor circuit no activity detected Bank 1 Sensor 2)
  • P0141 (O2 sensor heater circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2)

The new sensors have an optimized coating to help prevent cracking within the internal surfaces, reducing any possibility of short/open circuits.  The Subaru part numbers remain unchanged, but the sensors can be identified old vs new by the new Denso part numbers.
