BMW Crank/No Start

This bulletin applies to 2024 BMW X5, X7, 5 Series, 7 Series and X1 vehicles. The engine may crank but will not start. There may be no communication with the integrated fuel module (TFE) when diagnosing with ISTA.

The following two codes may be stored in the DME:

032B43 (low fuel pressure system, electric fuel pump, pressure value too low)

CDA594 (Message (-0x33E) missing, receiver DME, transmitter TFE)

An unfavorable software application could cause the TFE to remain in “bootloader mode” during certain cold start situations. To correct: Reprogram the IFM/TFE.

Disconnect the 12V vehicle battery with the supporting voltage/battery charger disconnected.

Or

  • Unplug the fuse for the TFE control unit G05/G07, power distribution box rear, F228 fuse (tailgate)
  • Unplug G60/G70 ...power distribution box rear, fuse F250 (trunk)
  • Unplug U11 ..power distribution box front right, fuse F020 (front hood)

It is not necessary to replace the TFE for this issue. ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
