TSB: Porsche Jump Start Precaution

This bulletin applies to 2020-2022 Porsche Taycan Y1A vehicles. A mobile 12V jump-start battery jump pack/booster has an internal contactor which isolates the device’s internal battery from the vehicle’s system after a jump start if the system voltage exceeds a certain value. The voltage of the vehicle’s 12V system may be lower than the cut-off voltage threshold of the jump device. This condition may lead to an overcharge of the device and risk of fire.

Do not use a mobile 12V jump-start device with Lithium-ion batteries. This could result in the device catching fire. For jump-starting the vehicle either use a donor vehicle in combination with a jump lead as described in the workshop manual or an external lead-acid or AGM battery.
