TSB: Porsche Charging Issues
Porsche Charging Issues
This bulletin applies to 2020 Porsche Taycan Y1A/Y1B/Y1C electric vehicles. The customer may report having trouble charging the vehicle. The vehicle plug may not be interlocking in the vehicle charging port. The release button on the vehicle lights up red and the charging process cannot be started.
The charge connector may not be correctly positioned. As a result, the charging plug cannot be locked and charging cannot be started. The use of heavy charging cables/charging plugs can cause this problem.
One of the following entries is stored in the fault memory of the high-voltage charger (OBC) control unit:
- P33E800 (AC charging socket, charging plug lock, mechanical fault)
- P33E900 (charging socket combo, charging plug lock, mechanical fault)
The vehicle plug must be inserted fully and straight into the vehicle charge connection so that the locking mechanism can engage. If necessary, the procedure must be repeated and the plug may have to be held in position by hand. If the charging plug tilts down even slightly, this can be enough to prevent the actuator from locking the charging plug.
