A design change has been made to the front axle assemblies to address cases of a clicking/cracking type sound when driving with the steering wheel in the fully locked left or right position.

The size of the joint has been increased to provide added durability. Replace the affected side with the newly designed drive axle shaft assembly. The assemblies are not required to be replaced in pairs. Replace only the affected side.

The new design front drive shaft for Outback is P/N 28321AN030. Forester shaft is P/N 28321SJ010. Both require one-time-use nut P/N 902170049.
