This bulletin applies to 2017-2021 Chrysler Pacifica vehicles equipped with a 3.6L Pentastar engine. Recheck the engine oil fill level after filling to the correct specifications.
The customer may note that after an engine oil change, when they check the level, it may show an overfill condition.
The 3.6L Pentastar Upgrade engine typically uses a smaller oil pan for most applications versus the 3.6L Pentastar Classic, resulting in an engine oil capacity of five quarts for the Upgrade engine. The 3.6L Pentastar Upgrade engine also has a slower oil drainback rate. After filling the engine to the correct capacity per specification, the oil level may show as low on the dipstick due to the slower drainback rate.
Do not add more oil than specified in the published service information. When identifying the 3.6L Pentastar Upgrade engine, the Upgrade engine has an EGR cooler mounted to one of the cylinder heads, and a variable valve lift (VVL) solenoid on the front of each valve cover.
