Quieting Lincoln slosh noise

Feb. 6, 2024
Some 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive may exhibit a slosh noise.

Some 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive may exhibit a slosh noise primarily when the fuel tank is over ¾ full and when driving at low speeds. This may be due to fuel moving around in the tank.

Raise the vehicle on a lift and support the fuel tank using a powertrain lift. Remove and discard the fuel tank straps and fasteners. Install P/N H2GZ-9054-A straps and four P/N W718813-S442 fuel tank bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft-lbs (+/- 2.8 ft-lbs).
