LINCOLN TICK

Some 2011-2016 Lincoln MKT/MKS vehicles equipped with a 2.0L, 2.3L, 3.5L or 3.7L engine may exhibit a ting, pop, click and/or continuous ticking noise from the front wheel area when accelerating from a stop, turning or when shifting between drive/reverse or reverse/drive. The noise may be caused by worn/damaged front outer halfshaft joints and/or friction between the front halfshaft and wheel hub.

Separate both front halfshafts from the wheel hubs. Removal of the halfshafts from the transmission is not required. If necessary, replace the halfshafts. During assembly, install a new thrust washer between the halfshaft and wheel hub during installation.
