BMW Loses Power Steering After Engine Start
This bulletin applies to 2016 BMW 2 Series, 3 Series and 4 Series vehicles. Steering assistance may have failed after an engine start. The DSC warning lamp is illuminated and check control messages may be displayed (Driving stabilization..drive carefully; increased steering effort required. Drive at moderate speed). The EPS (electronic power steering) Flexray Transceiver may be switching itself off.
Program and encode the vehicle with updated software. Run diagnostics with ISTA/D. Work through the corresponding test module. Program and encode the vehicle with ISTA/P P3.58.2 or a more recent version to integration level F020-16-03-503.
