This bulletin applies to 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS400 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L engine. A popping noise/intake backfire may be heard from the engine on a cold start.

Mixture adaptation has been set to an extremely lean condition in the cold start situation before O2 sensors and analysis reach operating temperature. Update the engine control module program with DVD 03/16 and add-on 5413 and add-on 5685.
