This bulletin applies to 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a 2.4L I4 Multiair engine and built on or before July 26, 2016. The customer may describe a slight engine compartment noise. This may be at the purge control valve area.
Remove the engine cover. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor wire harness connector.
Loosen the hose clamp on the air duct. Loosen the resonator to throttle body clamp. Remove the resonator bolt. Disconnect the rubber hose and remove the resonator.
Depressurize the system. Use a rag to absorb any residual fuel to avoid spillage. Remove the quick connect fuel/vapor jumper hose assembly from the engine. Remove the quick connect fuel/vapor jumper hose from the duty cycle purge valve. Using care, roll the foam isolator away from the duty cycle purge valve. Remove the purge hose from the duty cycle purge valve.
Install a new purge hose to the duty cycle purge valve. Position the foam isolator back into position onto the duty cycle purge valve and intake manifold. Install the quick connect fuel tank hose to the duty cycle purge valve. Install the quick connect fuel tank hose assembly. Position the resonator between the forward edge of the cowl and the cylinder head cover. Align the openings with the throttle body intake and the air cleaner flex hose. Install the bolt, tightening to 71 in.lb. Tighten the air box hose clamp to 35 in.lb. Tighten the throttle body clamp to 35 in.lb. Connect the IAT sensor wire harness connector.
Clear any DTCs. A new vapor/fuel hose is available as P/N 68155177AC.
