Oregon auto repair technician has recovered 54 stolen vehicles
The owner of RBP Red Block Performance automotive repair shop in Portland, Oregon, is recovering stolen vehicles in his spare time. Since starting the project last summer he has returned 54 stolen vehicles to their rightful owners, according to a report on KGW8.
Portland has a big car theft problem. When Haas finds stolen vehicles on city streets, he makes a note of them in the social media groups dedicated to resolving this issue.
The first stolen vehicle Haas recovered was a 1980 Harley Davidson that was owned by a veteran and had a lot of sentimental value, KGW8 reported.
“I love it," Haas said. "I mean, that's my favorite moment, is to capture that picture of them with their vehicle and that big grin on their face, like, you know, 'it's gonna be OK.' And that makes it all worthwhile."
While Haas is in it to help his community, there can be business benefits too. Some of the car owners have asked Haas to repair the vehicles after he recovers them.
