Vehicle vandalized, then stolen at auto repair shop

After dropping her car off for a routine maintenance check, the woman's car was first vandalized, and then days later, it was stolen while at an auto repair shop.

A woman dropped off her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee off at Christian Brothers Automotive on Sonic Drive in southeast Memphis, Tenn. for a routine maintenance check. Later did she know it would turn into a nightmare.

According to a WREG News Channel 3 report, Felicia Banks dropped her car off on June 16 and when she came back for it a week later, she discovered it has been vandalized.

The rear passenger-side window glass was shattered and items were stolen from inside. Thankfully, her car's security system locked up, stopping the thieves from stealing it. Although, it also made the car inoperable, the report noted.

After filling a police report, the shop told her they would fix it.

Just days later, the shop called Banks with more bad news. This time, the vehicle was stolen.

“I was stunned," Banks told WREG News Channel 3. "I couldn’t figure out how we went from, OK the window is broken, to the entire vehicle is gone.”

Banks said her car was on the street in front of the auto repair shop and not even secured in the shop's parking lot or inside the shop.

“I did not expect them to stick my vehicle back outside with no window, open and available for anybody who wants to steal it,” Banks reported. “From my understanding it wasn’t supposed to be back out there. It was supposed to be in the bay.”

A surveillance video shows two males breaking into her car and driving off, along with another vehicle taken the same day. To make matters worse, the shop owner is not cooperating, leaving Banks without a car and with an insurance deductible she doesn't feel she should have to pay, the news report stated.
