Auto repair technician run over by car thief
An automotive technician in Houston, Texas, was seriously injured when the car he was working on was stolen, according to a report by KHOU 11.
Tarfin Micu, 65, was repairing a vehicle at Fixers Automotive when a man got behind the wheel and fought to take control of the car. Tarfin was halfway inside of the vehicle clinging to the wheel as the thief tried to escape. The car smashed into the business next door, Tarfin fell to the ground, and was run over by the car, KHOU 11 reported.
Tarfin broke his hip, every one of his toes and several other bones.
“He is worried about the business because it’s our only livelihood," his wife Crina said.
Micu is well-known in the area and often repairs cars free of charge for neighbors who can't afford to pay, said neighbor and customer Brian Laney.
“He works everyday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., whether it’s 100 degrees outside or 20 degrees outside, he’s out here working,” Laney told KHOU 11.
