TSB: Buzzing Explorer

Buzzing Explorer

Some 2022-2023 Ford Explorer vehicles built on or before June 1, 2023 may exhibit a buzz/vibration/rattle from the center left of the instrument panel during tip-in when the vehicle is up to operating temperature. This may be due to heater tube movement against the tube bracket.

Remove the left side insulation panel and the lower steering column trim panel. Remove the left half of the heater tube bracket and clean the tube slots with isopropyl alcohol. Apply flock tape to the heater tube bracket slots using the flock tape strips included in the Rotunda Squeak and rattle Kit 164-R4900. Reassemble and tighten the two heater tube bracket screws to 11.5 in-lb (1.3 Nm).
