This bulletin applies to a number of Infiniti vehicles wherein the remote engine start is not working. This includes 2016-2023 Q50, 2016-2018 Q50 Hybrid, 2017-2022 Q60, 2019-2023 QX50, 2022-2023 QX55, 2015-2020 QX60, 2015-2017 QX60 Hybrid and 2015-2023 QX80 vehicles, all equipped with remote engine start.
If the customer states that the remote start is not working, first check to see if the system is properly set as follows:
- Ignition off
- The remote engine start function has been switched to the ON position in Vehicle Settings in the vehicle information display.
- The shift selector is in the Park position.
- Hood, doors and trunk lid/lift gate are all completely closed.
- The other intelligent keys are not inside the vehicle.
- The intelligent key is within the operating range of 197 feet.
If these conditions are met, the remote start should work. To further verify, perform the following checks...
1. Start the engine with the push-button ignition switch.
2. Turn the engine off and wait for six seconds.
3. Exit the vehicle. Make sure all doors, hood, trunk etc are closed, then lock the vehicle using the intelligent key.
4. Within five seconds of pressing the lock button, point the intelligent key at the vehicle, and then press and hold the remote start button until the turn signal lights flash and the parking lights turn on. The engine should start, the parking lights should remain on and the doors should remain locked while the engine is running.
5. If the system fails to work at this point, follow diagnostics listed in the service manual.
