The MIL may illuminate, accompanied by DTC P0461 (fuel level sensor 1 performance) set in the PCM.

Verify that all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs other than P0461 are present, record and repair as needed before proceeding.

1. Using wiTech, select the PCM icon and then the Configuration tab.

2. Using the “Fuel Tank Type,” does the value read “50-gallon fuel tank” and not “All Others,” it is possible that the customer’s fueling habits could set this DTC. If the customer allows the fuel tank level to fall below 14.9% and only adds a small amount of fuel to the tank, keeping the fuel level below 14.9% during a 240 mile cycle, the DTC can set.

3. If the fuel tank type does not read “50 Gallon Fuel Tank” and instead reads “All Others,” set PCM configuration data to “50 Gallon Fuel Tank.” Navigate wiTech to “PCM Misc Functions” and perform the “Enable 50 Gallon Tank” routine.
