Technicians may encounter a rough idle, surge, shudder, poor transmission shift feel or misfire, with or without DTC P0300 set in the ECM.

While performing the visual inspection portion of Strategy Based Diagnosis, utilize engine controls schematics to compare the Fuel Injector Control Circuit wire colors at the fuel injector and at the ECM connectors.

The connectors at the fuel injectors or individual circuits at the ECM connectors can be reversed, leading to misfires that may occur only under specific circumstances or RPM ranges, making them difficult to duplicate or diagnose.

If this concern is found, inspect the related harnesses and terminals for signs of damage due to potential misrouting.
