The Fix for Stubborn Subaru Electric Power Steering

You may encounter a 2013 Subaru Outback equipped with electronic power steering (EPS) where the power steering assist is not working.

If the EPS light illuminates without a DTC and there is a heavy steering feel, check to see if the battery terminals are clean and properly torqued. If the nut on the battery terminal becomes loose it can result in a momentary loss in power to the EPS.
