This bulletin applies to 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Some customers and/or technicians may notice that the crankshaft balancer appears to be out of balance (wobbling while watching it with engine running). In most cases, the wobble is an optical illusion because the design of the balancer gives the appearance that it is moving more than it actually is.

If the concern is experienced, with engine off, push the crankshaft all the way rearward. Using a magnetic base, attach a dial indicator so that the measuring tip is contacting the rear of the drive belt groove. Note that an inaccurate reading may be obtained by measuring the face of the balancer instead of the rear of the drive belt groove.

Rotate the crank 360 degrees and note total runout. If balancer runout is 0.0098-inch (0.25mm) or less, do not replace the balancer. If beyond this runout, replace the balancer.
