This bulletin applies to 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles. A rattling/banging noise may be heard under the vehicle. The cause may be a cracked/broken exhaust bracket-to-transmission. Inspect the exhaust bracket securing DPF (diesel particulate filter) to transmission bell housing for cracks. If cracks are found, replace them with an updated/strengthened bracket that is now available as P/N A 906 492 69 (applicable for 4x2 and 4x4 vehicles).

Hand-tighten screws prior to torquing to allow the exhaust pipe to shift into position. Torque screws into the transmission housing before torquing screws into DPF to allow for minor shifting. Torque screws at the transmission housing at 25Nm. Torque screws on the DPF mounting side to 15Nm. Be sure to inspect the bell housing for damage at the bracket location and replace if needed. Inspect all additional exhaust mounting brackets for condition.
