Reverse Gear Issue With Cadillac

Some owners of 2016 Cadillac XTS and SRX vehicles may complain about not being able to access reverse gear.

Some owners of 2016 Cadillac XTS and SRX vehicles may complain about not being able to access reverse gear. Some may also not have third gear. Technicians may find an erratic input speed signal. DTCs P0716 and/or P0717 may be found as active or history DTCs. This condition may be caused by the input shaft speed sensor reluctor ring retainer ring being out of its groove.

Replace the retainer ring, input shaft speed sensor reluctor wheel, 3-5-reverse clutch piston and 3-5-reverse and 4-5-6 clutch housing assembly. Inspect and replace other distressed parts as needed.
