Owners of 2011-2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate and built between March 1, 2010, and March 1, 2012, may complain that the power liftgate does not open or close under power.

The technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1882 (power liftgate position sensor 1 circuit) is set.

According to Chrysler/Jeep, updating the software will fix the problem. The wi-TECH software level must be at release 13.03 or higher to perform the update. Instead of chasing your tail trying to determine why the gate won’t work, try the software update.
