Rattle Shakes Up Cadillac

Some owners of 2012-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles equipped with A 3.6L engine and F46 Chassis all-wheel drive may comment about a rattle or moan or flutter noise from the rear of the vehicle at low speeds in the 17-25 mph range.

Disconnecting the rear differential clutch control module may reduce or eliminate the noise. This condition may be caused by the center support bearing of the propeller shaft. Do not replace the rear differential clutch control module for this condition.

Loosen the center support bearing mounting bolts and center the support bearing as close as possible. Re-torque the bolts to 43 ft-lb and re-test to verify that the concern has been corrected. If the condition remains, replace the propeller shaft. If the condition is still present after propeller shaft replacement, it is highly unlikely that the center support bearing was the cause. Refer to the service manual for further diagnosis.
