Owners of 2015-2018 Jeep Renegade vehicles equipped with electric power steering (EPS) may experience a warning light on. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C1013-49 (half module faulty – internal electronic failure), U1702-64 (electric power steering signal plausibility failure) and C1214-87 (Conf Data Code Request message – missing message error set in the EPS control unit) might be set.
In addition, the customer may notice one or more of the following:
A “Lane Assist Malfunction/Feature Not Available” message.
“Lane Sense Off” message while driving and simultaneously turning the lane sense off.
Power steering warning lamp on.
Using a scan tool with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in the DealerCONNECT service library, verify that all systems are functioning properly. Record and repair any additional DTCs before proceeding.
Reprogram the EPS module with the latest software and clear any DTCs that may have set during reflash.
