This bulletin applies to 2014-2020 Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Some customers may comment about a warning light (MIL) on, harsh shifts, slip, surge, shudder, harsh garage shifts, harsh range shifts, noise, whine, shake, vibration, delayed shifts and/or growl.
Scan for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and address as needed. Chances are the TBV (transmission cooler bypass valve) needs to be replaced with a new TBV that has a cooler operating temperature and should be replaced when any transmission repair is performed. Note that once the TBV is replaced with part number 86774933 and is stamped with a “70.” The valve does not need to be replaced again unless the TBV is determined to have failed.
