Chevy Truck Turbo Is Whiny

A bent turbocharger compressor blade may be causing a whiny noise in a 2016-2017 Chevy Colorado or Express vehicle.

This bulletin applies to 2016-2017 Chevy Colorado and Express vehicles equipped with a 2.8L diesel engine. Some customers may comment about a whiny noise during acceleration, in gear or neutral. The condition may be caused by a bent turbocharger compressor blade. If a bent blade is found, replace the turbo.

Use the VIN, service manual and GM Electronic Parts Catalog to determine which turbocharger is correct for the vehicle. The choice is P/N 55486936 or 55496255.
