• Replacing Mazda Brake Pedal Switch

    Some 2009 Mazda Tribute and Tribute Hybrid vehicles may exhibit the traction control light on, with DTC C1440. If the vehicle is operated for an extended period following the illumination of this light, a slight brake drag may occur. If both the traction control light (on) and the DTC are present, replace the brake pedal switch. 

    Some 2009 Mazda Tribute and Tribute Hybrid vehicles may exhibit the traction control light on, with DTC C1440. If the vehicle is operated for an extended period following the illumination of this light, a slight brake drag may occur. If both the traction control light (on) and the DTC are present, replace the brake pedal switch.  

    If only the traction control light is on or only the DTC is found, proceed with normal diagnostics. Note: Do not press or pull on the brake pedal when removing/installing the brake pedal position switch, since misadjustment or switch damage can occur.
