Verify Ram Mirror Binding

Ram trucks built with Auto Dim Exterior Mirror in 2017 need to be checked to make sure there is enough room for the feeler gauge in order to stop a clicking at the pivot from the outside power fold mirror.

This bulletin applies to 2017-2018 RAM 1500/2500 trucks built on or after Oct. 1, 2017 and on or before Dec. 31, 2017 and equipped with Auto Dim Exterior Mirror. The outside power fold mirror may exhibit a binding or clicking at the pivot. The driver side mirror may actuate slowly or may bind at pivot when folding the mirror. The mirror actuator may continue to run after reaching the detent when folding open.

Verify binding by checking with a feeler gauge to ensure that there is at least a 0.010-inch gap at the pivot. When the mirror reaches the open detent position, listen to determine whether or not the actuator motor continues to run/click.

If the gap is too tight and the actuator continues to run, replace the mirror assembly.
