Some 2014-2019 Toyota Highlander/Highlander HV vehicles may exhibit an abnormal squeak, squawk or groan noise from the rear suspension while driving over uneven roads or when the vehicle comes to a complete stop (may be more noticeable in cold weather). The noise may be caused by the rear trailing arm bushing. An updated trailing arm assembly is now available.
Applying soapy water to the suspected bushing may temporarily diminish the noise intensity, aiding in diagnosing the issue. If the noise is caused by one or both bushings, replace BOTH sides with the updated trailing arm assemblies.
Example of the right side bushing. Notice the small mark on each side is located forward.

Before installing the new part(s) confirm the identification mark as shown in the accompanying photos. The mark faces the outside of the vehicle.
