This bulletin applies to 2017-2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles built on or before Aug. 30, 2017, equipped with a 2.9L V6 B-Turbo engine or a 2.0L I4 direct injection turbo engine. Customers may experience a MIL on.

The technician may find DTC P008A-00 (low pressure fuel system pressure – too low) stored. This DTC can be set if the vehicle ran out of fuel. In that case, this bulletin does not apply. Check with the customer to see if the vehicle ran out of fuel at the same time the MIL turned on.

If the vehicle is equipped with a 2.9L engine, check if the body control module (BCM) is programmed with the latest available software. Only replace the fuel pump if the BCM software is already up to date or if the DTC resets after the BCM was updated. A replacement fuel pump module is available as follows:

Fuel pump module for U.S. and Canadian.......... 68408467AA

Fuel pump module for Mexican........................... 68408468AA

O-ring for fuel tank (all models)............................ 68079799AA

Once the fuel pump module has been replaced, and with fuel in the tank, use the scan tool (wiTECH 2) to perform “Fuel Supply System Components Replacement.” Then perform “Self-Adaptive Parameters Reset”. Clear all DTCs that may have set.
