Autel Brings MaxiHVAC AC909 Advanced A/C Diagnostic System to Market
Autel has announced the availability of the MaxiHVAC AC909 Advanced A/C Diagnostic System, designed to help technicians diagnose, service, and verify automotive HVAC and thermal management systems. The company is accepting orders for the AC909D package, with shipments expected to begin by the end of September 2026.
The AC909 combines leak testing, refrigerant service, and live vehicle diagnostics into a guided workflow. The system combines refrigerant data with vehicle diagnostics, airflow, temperature, electrical, and sensor information to help technicians identify HVAC system faults beyond traditional high- and low-side pressure readings.
“We didn’t set out to build another A/C machine. We set out to give technicians a better way to understand and diagnose the entire HVAC system,” said Gary DeLuca, corporate strategist at Autel U.S.
The AC909 displays live refrigerant pressures, temperatures, humidity, and other system measurements on a single graphical analysis screen. Illustrated, step-by-step procedures are designed to help technicians isolate faults and verify repairs, while dedicated tests support diagnosis of compressors, evaporators, condensers, metering devices, and system blockages.
The system is designed for electronically controlled A/C systems, hybrids, electric vehicles (EVs), heat pumps, and evolving refrigerant technologies as vehicle thermal management systems increasingly incorporate batteries, power electronics, and other vehicle systems.
Students at Pittsburg State University in Kansas participated in testing of the AC909 in May. Testing included vehicles with properly functioning HVAC systems as well as vehicles with poorly performing A/C systems.
“Bringing all this data into one screen in the AC909 is going to make A/C diagnostics faster and more efficient,” said Scott Norman, professor and Automotive Technology Program coordinator at Pittsburg State University. “Technicians will be able to diagnose HVAC problems that they were only guessing at with older scan tool methods.”
The AC909 system includes the AC909 diagnostic tablet, MaxiFlash VCI, four-port manifold with backlit sight glass, compressor box, refrigerant scale, Bluetooth temperature clamps, and Bluetooth temperature and humidity probes.
The AC909D package adds a NAVAC NP8DSV Bluetooth Smart Vacuum Pump and digital micron vacuum gauge. The AC909 tablet can wirelessly control the Bluetooth-enabled vacuum pump and incorporate live vacuum measurements into the diagnostic and service workflow. The system supports micron measurement and decay testing to help technicians verify moisture removal and system readiness.
The package also includes a nitrogen regulator, refrigerant and vacuum hoses, fittings, R134a and R1234yf service couplings, and adapters.
The Autel MaxiHVAC AC909D Advanced A/C Diagnostic System is available to order through authorized Autel distributors, with shipments expected to begin by the end of September 2026.
