Honda Insight Battery Is a New Breed
The 12-volt battery in the 2019 Honda Insight is a new design AGM battery. The battery mounts in the center console, not under the hood as you might expect.
To handle outgassing, the case includes a venting system that diverts any gasses outside the vehicle.
If you need to jump start the engine, there is a jump start terminal featuring a + symbol under the hood just for that purpose. Be aware that this underhood terminal cannot be used to jump start another vehicle or to charge a battery.
For charging and testing, you will need the Battery Terminal Extension (07AAZTXMA100). Without this tool, your ED-18 or GR8 alligator clamp could contact the battery tie-down bracket, possibly causing sparking.
