This bulletin applies to 2012 - 2014 Chevy Tahoe vehicles. The MIL may be on, with DTC P057C and/or P057D; or cruise and brake light operation service stability message with DTC C0161 C0277 (check X205 connector).

If no resolution is found after performing normal diagnostics for any issues related to the BPP (brake pedal position) sensor, inspect connector X205 for a terminal concern. This connector is located under the left side of the I/P defrost deflector. Below is a list of some symptoms that may be experienced if there is a BPP concern:

  • SES MIL with DTC P057C and/or P057D
  • Cruise or brake light issues with DTC C0277.
  • Service stability message with C0161
  • Reduced engine power with no DTCs (brake pedal override)
  • Unwanted grade braking

Inspect connector X205 for loose, backed out or bent terminals using a test probe. Repair as needed.
