This bulletin applies to 2009-2013 Chevy Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe models. DTC B0081 may be set in the SDM (Sensing Diagnostic Module) and PPS (Passenger Presence System). In most cases, the DTC will set due to a communication fault and does not always require a module replacement.

Inspect the PPS and SDM powers, grounds and communication circuits. Check in-line connectors, PPS connector, SDM connector and splice packs for being fully seated, backed out terminals and proper terminal tension using test probes.

In most cases, the root cause is a connector not fully seated.
