Scan Tool Needed to Check Jeep Issues

This bulletin applies to 2012-2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles.

This bulletin applies to 2012-2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles. Customers may experience a MIL on. Technicians may find DTCs P0335 (crankshaft position sensor circuit), U0140 (lost communication with body control module), and/or P219A (air-fuel ratio cylinder imbalance Bank 1). The engine may be hard to start at temperatures of -20 degrees F for vehicles using E85 fuel. In addition, customers may report that the vehicle has failed emissions certification tests. Upon further investigation, it may be found that the individual cylinder fuel control (ICFC) monitors are reporting as failing on the scan tool even though the monitors have actually passed.

Using a scan tool, verify that all systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs other than those listed are present, record and repair as needed before proceeding.

Reprogram the PCM with the latest available software.
