Auto body shop owner near Atlanta arrested

Shelly Jackson accused of taking customers' money.

The owner of an auto body shop near Atlanta has turned herself in to authorities for taking customers' money. In at least one known incident, Shelly Jackson, the owner of Auto Innovations in Marietta, Ga., cashed a customer's insurance check and never fixed the vehicle, according to reports from Fox 5 Atlanta.

One customer, Brittany Pedigo, dropped her truck off but hadn't heard anything from the business for two months. She called and texted the shop but did not receive a response. When she went to the shop, everything was gone.

"I drove by the shop after work one day, and the shop was just closed," Pedigo said. "No vehicles. Everything repainted. Just everything gone."

Auto Innovations' website said it had moved locations in February, but it's unclear where the new location is, said Fox 5.

The news outlet said many individuals filed a police report claiming a missing vehicle against Auto Innovations.

In court, Pedigo said she found her truck, but it wasn't repaired and her insurance check for $3,707.77 written to the truck owner had been cashed by Auto Innovations. She told the judge the check had been cashed the day after she dropped it off in January.

The judge sided with the truck owner and issued a felony arrest warrant for Shelley Jackson of Auto Innovations for theft by taking.

Jackson turned herself into Cobb County authorities later that day, according to Fox 5.
