The Auto Care Association announced that the Vehicle Configuration Database, a large part of the database backbone that supports the Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard, has been extended to include non-automotive data with coverage from 1980-2019 in nin new segments.

The Auto Care Association announced this week that the Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb), a large part of the database backbone that supports the Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard (ACES), has been extended to include non-automotive data with coverage from 1980-2019 in nine new segments.

By extending the coverage to include Off-Highway and Equipment, subscribers can now send all possible content information using ACES and PIES. This will eliminate the need for multiple content delivery options based on the type of product being sold and all product and content data can be sent using ACES and PIES. The nine new segments are:
  • Agricultural
  • Construction
  • Industrial
  • Lawn and Garden
  • Marine Auxiliary
  • Marine Propulsion
  • Power Generation
  • Railway Segment
  • Recreational

These nine new segments translate to 172 application areas (including tractors, combines, off highway trucks, and more) as well as 229 product areas (including harvesters, 4WD tractors, sprayers, and more).

“Auto Care’s commitment to this expanded vehicle table will enable Standard Motor Products to aggressively go after off-highway and equipment product sales that our organization has been unable to pursue until now,” said Phil Hutchins, vice president, strategic initiatives at Standard Motor Products. “We look forward to taking full advantage of this new opportunity.”

Off-Highway and Equipment Data in VCdb was made possible via a strategic partnership between Auto Care Association and Power Systems Research (PSR), a respected leader in market research, data development, analysis and forecasting for the global vehicle and power equipment industries.

The Vehicle Configuration Database contains all application data that is used when sending content data using ACES and PIES. VCdb features always up-to-date standards, accessible anywhere to enable suppliers and receivers to speak the same product language across the supply chain and increase efficiencies.

The new data will be available in the Vehicle Configuration Database format to subscribers starting in May 2019. To learn more about OHE, visit autocare.org/offhighway or email [email protected].
