TSB: Dripping Kia

Kia vehicles with manual tilt steering wheels may develop oily drips on the driver’s floorboard, particularly in high ambient temperatures.

Dripping Kia

This bulletin applies to all Kia vehicles equipped with a manual tilt steering wheel. The customer may note an oily substance dripping onto the driver’s side floorboard, especially in areas with high ambient temperatures. This concern may be due to an excessive amount of grease applied to the steering column tilt adjustment area, which may become liquified and drip to the floorboard due to decreased grease viscosity. Simply clean the excess layer of grease with a clean shop towel, being sure to leave sufficient grease to allow easy tilt adjustment.
