TSB: Hyundai Electric Oil Pump

This guide details the diagnostic process for Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6 vehicles experiencing 'Power is limited' warnings, focusing on EOP operation checks using GDS tools and procedures for identifying faulty electric oil pumps.

Hyundai Electric Oil Pump

Certain 2022-2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 2023 Ioniq 6 vehicles may have a condition of the power down warning light with “Power is limited” displayed in the cluster, along with a possible DTC P0A2F stored.

Check the EOP (electric oil pump) operation using GDS. Start the engine and select the following parameters in “MCU Sensor Data Diagnosis”:

  1. Traction motor temperature

  2. EOP speed command

  3. EOP speed

  4. EOP error data 2

Drive the vehicle to warm up the traction motor in order to generate an EOP speed command. Drive with repeated rapid acceleration and deceleration. Check the EOP speed on GDS while driving. If EOP speed remains at 0, but EOP speed commend is present, the EOP is not functioning properly and must be replaced. If EOP speed looks normal (above 0), then the EOP does not need replacing.
