Ford Trailer Brake

Some 2024 Ford F-150 non-Lightning vehicles equipped with minor feature codes C2BAW and FDDAA may exhibit an intermittent trailer brake system fault message in the instrument panel (inoperative trailer brake controller) and/or DTC U0131:87, U0140:87, U0100:87 and/or U0121:87 stored in the TRM when installing the trailer brake controller kit ML3Z-19H332-AB. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the VIN in the upper left corner in the PTS. Trailer brake controller kit ML3Z-19H332-AB does not include the correct TRM for 2024 F-150 vehicles and this kit should not be installed on 2024 F-150 vehicles. To correct, follow the Service Procedure to bring the vehicle to its original state and successfully install the trailer brake controller RL3Z-19H332-A.

Reinstall the TRM originally installed to the vehicle from the factory. Run the IPC towbar configuration application using the latest software level of the FDRS scan tool. Run  the TRM towbar configuration using the latest software level.

To successfully install the trailer brake controller, use the TRM service part number RL-3Z-19H332-A (not the TRM that came with the trailer brake controller kit ML3Z-19H332-AB). Use the trailer brake switch ML3Z-14529-AC that came with kit ML3Z-19H332-AB to continue the installation.
